Projected Capacitive Touch Screen
Projected capacitive touch screens — PCAP for short — are the most widely used capacitive technology in industrial and commercial interfaces. This page describes the category and also carries the concept of the PCAP touch screen line: PCAP is the abbreviation of projected capacitive, so buyers searching for either wording will find the same scope here.
How projected capacitive works
A projected capacitive sensor is a grid of electrodes behind the cover glass. The controller projects an electrostatic field through the glass and watches for the disturbance a finger causes. Because the sensing happens through the glass, the cover can be thick, shaped or treated, and the sensor itself is protected behind it.
That construction explains the two properties buyers notice first: the light touch response, because nothing needs to be pressed, and the durability of the surface, because the sensor is not exposed. The blog technology explainer covers the principle in more depth, in general terms, without binding it to any particular model.
PCAP and CTP
CTP — capacitive touch panel — is the trade name often used for the same projected capacitive panels, and the website's navigation uses CTP capacitive touch screens as its first product group. Confirm the sensing technology and controller pairing required for your application.
What to confirm before ordering
Please confirm the cover glass shape and treatment, the bonding method, the controller interface and the operating environment. Please also confirm the minimum order quantity and the delivery schedule before payment. Certificates available upon request.
- Confirm the cover glass shape and optical treatment
- Confirm the bonding method and controller interface
- Confirm the operating environment, including gloves or moisture
